Licences for animal establishments

We have a statutory duty to licence animal establishments within the borough. You will need a licence for the following:

• pets shops
• dog breeding establishments
• dog and cat boarding establishments (including home boarding)
• riding establishments
• owners of dangerous wild animals
• zoos
• performing animals.

We work in partnership with the City of London Corporation to ensure that these premises and that the conditions of such premises are in line with the published guidance and model license conditions.

Inspections

We carry out annual inspections where licences are granted or renewed. We also do unannounced inspections to make sure that the licence conditions are being followed and that animal welfare needs are met.
