Complaints and concerns about dogs

Who to contact if you have complaints and concerns about dogs.

To report an animal that may have been abandoned in a property or if you suspect animal cruelty or if you have concerns regarding an animal's well being you can contact Lambeth Animal Welfare services on 0207 926 8860 or email animalwelfare@lambeth.gov.uk.

We will look into the complaint and attempt to resolve the matter or inform the relevant organisation.

Animal cruelty

If you suspect that an animal is being subjected to any form of cruelty then the only organisation that can legally deal with this is the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). You can call them on 0300 1234 999.

Anti-social behaviour with dogs

If you have a complaint about anti-social behaviour with a dog, contact our anti-social behaviour line 0207 926 4000 from Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. At all other times you can leave a message. You can do this anonymously.

Barking dogs

If you are regularly disturbed by a barking dog contact our noise control team on 020 7926 6111. You can also complain online using our noise and pollution eform.

See 'Is your dog barking too much?', a guide on dog barking produced by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Dangerous dogs

If you have a complaint about a dangerous or banned dog contact the police on 0300 123 1212.

Dog fouling

Not clearing up after your dog has fouled is a crime and not being aware cannot be used as a defence. Dog fouling is an environmental crime and you could be given an on-the-spot fine called a fixed penalty notice for £50, or be fined up to £1,000 in court. Visit our dog fouling pages for more information.
