Environmental crime

Environmental crime is anti-social behaviour that affects the quality of your local environment. They include offences such as littering, abandoned vehicles, fly-posting, fly-tipping, dog fouling and graffiti.

Our Environmental Crime Enforcement Officers patrol the borough every day to reduce the impact of environmental crime through education, advice and enforcement.

Dog fouling

It is illegal to not pick up dog mess from any public place or footpath that is left by your dog, or any dog you are looking after. Dog mess on the streets or in a park is unpleasant and it poses a health risk.

Fly-posting

Fly-posting is the illegal display of posters, stickers, boards and other advertisements on buildings and street furniture. Fly-posting removal is difficult and expensive to clear away.

Fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste on public and private land. The size of a fly-tip can vary from one bag of rubbish to several van loads of building and garden waste.

Graffiti

Graffiti is any illegal marking to walls and other surfaces. It can attract littering and vandalism, cause residents to lose pride in their area, and make a neighbourhood feel unsafe.
