Food Safety Training and Health Promotion

We run food safety training and provide advice and guidance.

Food safety training

We run food safety training in Food Hygiene and Hazard Analysis (food safety management). It is a legal requirement that any members of staff who handle food is properly trained.

Health promotion

In conjunction with the training and the enforcement role of the Food Safety team, we also aim to raise awareness of food safety and personal hygiene within our local community, by working with our local residents and businesses.

We have given hand washing demonstrations and talks in schools, nurseries and residential care homes (under special arrangements). We have been active participants in Food Link’s National Food Safety Week.

Top tips for food safety

  • Prepare and store raw and cooked food separately.
  • Keep your fridge between 0 and 5 degrees centigrade.
  • Always check 'use by' and 'best before' dates.
  • Always wash your hands before preparing food and after handling raw foods - especially raw meat and poultry.
