Food safety training
We run food safety training in Food Hygiene and Hazard Analysis (food safety management). It is a legal requirement that any members of staff who handle food is properly trained.
Managers, owners and supervisors should be sure that they and their staff are able to understand the main food hygiene issues before they start work.

The Foundation Certificate In Food Hygiene
This is an accredited course awarded by the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health.
It is a one day course that aims to provide food handlers with an understanding of the key principles of food safety, followed by a short multiple choice exam.
Successful candidates will receive a nationally recognised certificate.

Objectives
By the end of the session participants will be able to summarise their responsibilities in relation to food, including:
- food poisoning and its prevention
- relevant bacteria
- personal hygiene
- temperature control
- cross contamination
- food storage
- cleaning and disinfection
- pest control
- design of food premises
- relevant legislation.

This training is suitable for owners, managers, supervisors, head chefs and food handlers.

Training is currently run from Phoenix House, 10 Wandsworth Road, SW8 2LL and 26 Wanless Road, London SE24.

Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (Food Hygiene Management)
The Law requires a business to identify any step in their activity that is critical to ensuring food safety and ensure that adequate safety procedures are identified implemented, maintained and reviewed.
The Food Safety team offers short half-day workshops, with an attendance certificate from this department; and a one-day course with a certificate from The Royal Society for the Promotion of Health.
