Neighbourhood enhancement project - tell us what you think
If you live in: Vassall, Oval, Stockwell, part of Herne Hill, Coldharbour, Ferndale, Larkhall or Clapham Old Town wards, we want you to tell us what you would like to see changed to the streets in your area to make them safer, greener and cleaner.
Why have we chosen these neighbourhoods?
We have chosen these neighbourhoods for the first programme of improvements because of the high number of road safety accidents and the links with existing projects in the area which this scheme will build upon and complement.
To make sure that you are fully engaged we are taking a cooperative approach to finding out your views and we have asked a local community group, the Stockwell Partnership, to run the consultation for us.
What improvements will we see in the area?
Improvements could include the following where practical and depending on local priorites:
- 20mph zones to reduce road danger
- cycle parking
- cycle training
- car clubs
- tree planting and food growing
- removing street clutter such as unnecessary bollards and redundant signs
- introducing disabled parking bays.
As a number of benefits will be delivered at one time it will achieve better value for money for your community.
Why are we doing this?
Our aim is to make improvements in line with our transport strategy to:
- promote sustainable, healthy travel behaviour
- improve air quality
- reduce the number of people killed and seriously injured in road collisions
- reduce Lambeth's CO2 emissions.
Tell us what you think at one of the events
The Stockwell Partnership have produced a 3D model of the project area and will be visiting libraries and other public buildings to ask you to pin cards to show where you would like to see improvements, for example, pedestrian crossings.
Your feedback on the condition of roads and pavements will be passed to our highways team for consideration as part of their annual repair programme.
