A range of grant and loan schemes are available from Lambeth or the Government that cover the cost of heating, heating controls, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and draught proofing measures. To be eligible to apply you must meet the criteria.
A household is said to be in fuel poverty if it needs to spend more than 10 per cent of its income on fuel to maintain a satisfactory heating regime (usually 21 degrees for the main living area, and 18 degrees for other occupied rooms).
There are lots of ways to reduce the energy you use. For example make sure that you switch off appliances, block gaps around doors and windows and buy energy saving light bulbs.
