Park Rangers

Our Park Rangers act as the 'eyes and ears' of the council and community in our parks and green spaces. They provide a friendly presence at key times, and advice and assistance.

Rangers help keep an eye on playgrounds and play schemes, sports activities, school visits, festivals and events. They also discourage anti-social use/behaviour which might deter or worry people.

The Rangers are fully authorised council officers, able to educate about and enforce the Lambeth Parks Byelaws: local laws designed to regulate proper use of our parks and green spaces. They work with the support and help of the police and other council services.

Rangers patrol all the borough's parks and green spaces, making sure that people feel safe, incidents are quickly responded to and dealt with and advice is given. They lock the gates at the end of the day, and assist the Police where appropriate.

They are organised into teams centred around Lambeth's four major parks or open spaces: Brockwell Park, Clapham CommonKennington Park and Streatham Common. However, they are also fully mobile - which enables them to check on smaller sites across the borough and respond quickly to incidents or provide assistance.
