Green Flag Award
Milkwood Community Park is one of Lambeth Council's two Green Flag Award sites. It first won this prestigious award in 2006 and retained it in 2007.
Since 2003 Milkwood Residents' Association, Lambeth Council, London and Quadrant Housing Association and community consultants have been working in close partnership to secure significant inward investment in order to regenerate
the park. Their efforts resulted in transforming what used to be a rather bland site into a quality green space that meets local needs and community aspirations. To date over £550,000 has been invested in Milkwood Community Park so that it offers people of all ages and interests a wide range of facilities for play, sport and social relaxation.
The Green Flag Award recognises and celebrates the considerable achievements made by residents and the council to provide the local community with a green space they are proud of.
The Milkwood Residents' Association represents those living around and using the park, and continues to play a major role in its sustainable management and development for present and future generations. To contact or join the Association, or to find out more about their work, telephone 020 7207 9530 or email: m.r.assoc@ntlworld.com.
