New developments in Myatt's Fields park

Myatt's Fields park now contains numerous features which are becoming the focal point for a range of exciting and innovative community-led projects following the completion of a major £2.6 million overhaul funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Lambeth Council and other grant sources.

New playground

There is a new playground with a water play zone and stimulating equipment.

The Mulberry Centre

The Mulberry Centre which includes a children's building and the One O'clock Club, provides care for children primarily under five years old, as well as a range of other activities and services running from mornings to early evenings throughout the week.

Community greenhouse

The parks depot has been refurbished with staff offices, training rooms and a thriving community greenhouse.

The community greenhouse is actively supported by local residents and provides a safe and welcoming place to grow food and develop new horticultural and social skills. Disabled access male and female public toilets are located next to the depot.

The greenhouse also helps provide produce for the Black Cat Cafe, based next to the bandstand in the centre of the park, which sells fresh and healthy food for all ages to enjoy. The cafe is normally open during the summer and autumn.

For information on opening times, or to volunteer to help run the cafe or get involved in the greenhouse project contact Lambeth Parks or check notice boards in the park.

New nature conservation area

There is a new nature conservation area which offers opportunities for training in conservation and horticultural skills, as well as volunteering by residents, schools and businesses.

A new management plan is being developed for the area, to help direct and fund improvements that will enrich the park for people as well as the many wild plants and animals that are found there.
