Stage 2 consultation – July 2008

This stage of the public consultation looked at the specific strengths and character of Streatham identified in the work so far.

A public workshop was held on Wednesday 16 July at the Streatham Baptist Church on Lewin Road. Participants discussed a number of ideas on how the Streatham High Road area could work better as a space that people can use.

People were asked which of the ideas they thought would work best for the future of Streatham. The preferred idea would then be developed into the masterplan proposal.

‘Idea 4’ was the preferred option chosen by the majority of people at the workshop, which was a mixture of two other ideas and suggested a number of small, medium and long-term interventions.

People felt basing the masterplan on this ‘idea’ would help make sure regeneration benefits would be felt along the whole high road and not just restricted to large developments at the two stations.
