Norwood masterplanning
West Norwood, like all town centres, is changing. How can Norwood make the most of what it has to offer so that it can make sure change happens for the better? How can we protect the things we like about Norwood, while still change what we don't?
The council is currently developing a masterplan for the West Norwood area, in consultation with local residents and businesses.
The second stage of consultation for the West Norwood 'masterplan' started on Monday 14 July. The questionnaire stage of the consultation closed on Monday 11 August. The information will now be used to develop a 'masterplan' that will help shape the future of Norwood.

Further consultation on the 'masterplan' will occur later this year.
About the masterplan
The masterplan sets out the type of development that should happen and will help Norwood make the most out of the opportunities available. It covers almost everything that happens in the local area from shopping, entertainment, parks and open spaces to office and business space, transport and the streets themselves.
The council has commissioned EDAW, an urban design and regeneration consultancy, to develop the masterplan, which is due to be taken to the council's Cabinet by the end of 2008.
The town centre has been identified as an area of significant potential regeneration. Whilst there are some physical, social and economic problems that need to be addressed, there are a number of opportunities for positive change that the masterplan can identify and build on. You can read about the proposals for the masterplan in detail in the West Norwood masterplan options report.
A lot of work has already been done to support the development of the masterplan. For more information read the Regeneration Delivery Plan or see information on the 2007 Development Brief consultation for Major Development Opportunity Site 38.
The masterplan will build on existing knowledge to help move closer to real change in the area.
