The Streatham Hub Exhibition - October 2010

The Streatham Hub is a multi-million pound regeneration project that aims to breathe new life into the south of Streatham and provide top class leisure facilities for the whole community. Lambeth Council has been working with Tesco to develop the scheme, which will bring increased visitors and shoppers to the area, as well as up to 600 new jobs.

The Streatham Hub includes:

  • A brand new leisure centre, including ice rink and swimming pool
  • 250 new homes – 102 of which are earmarked for social housing.

Planning consent was originally granted to Tesco in 2007. The scheme was reviewed in 2009 in the light of the economic downturn and in March 2010 the council’s Cabinet gave the green light in principle to the following revisions to the scheme:

  • A temporary ice rink to be provided off-site, while the new permanent rink is built
  • Tesco to increase the retail floor space of their proposed store.
