Lambeth Economic Development Strategy (2007-10)
In a bid to encourage businesses to 'set up shop' in Lambeth, the council has moved up a gear to ensure that the best support and training opportunities are available for local entrepreneurs and residents.
The Economic Development Strategy details the way in which the borough will provide the right conditions to encourage businesses to set up and trade locally.
Key aims of the strategy
The new strategy will focus on three main aims:
- Increasing investment in Lambeth
- Tackling worklessness through partnership working with training and employment partners
- Supporting enterprise within the borough
The council will encourage businesses into the area by focussing on key sites across the borough, issuing information and advice to potential investors, directing businesses to online property websites and strengthening commercial town centre management and marketing.
Free and low cost business advice and support will be easier to access and clearer to understand, and businesses will be made aware of the steps needed to apply for public sector contracts.
Extra support will also be given to the borough's key growth sectors – including cultural and creative industries, hospitality, leisure, travel, tourism and construction.
