Reuse and recycling centres

Lambeth residents can use three reuse and recycling centres located in Lambeth and Wandsworth to recycle or dispose of household waste. These are Lambeth Reuse and Recycling Centre, Smugglers Way and Cringle Dock.

  • All three sites accept low energy light bulbs.
  • Lambeth residents using a van rather than a private car to transport household waste to these sites, need to obtain a 'free tip' letter - please see using a van for full details.

Household waste can no longer be taken to Lambeth Reuse and Recycling Centre on Vale Street, West Norwood. From 1 April 2009 the centre became recycling only and will not accept any non-recyclable waste.

For more information on the changes go to the Lambeth Reuse and Recycling Centre page.

Household and commercial waste can be taken to Cringle Dock or Smugglers Way. Commercial organisations will have to pay and ensure they obtain 'duty of care' documentation.

Using a van

If you have a van and wish to dispose of household bulky waste at either Smugglers Way or Cringle Dock free of charge you must register for a free tip letter.

This service is for the disposal of bulky household waste and for the do-it-yourself home improver/gardener carrying out maintenance solely at their own expense. We regret that this service cannot be offered where any part of the work cost is being met by improvement grants, loans from the Council, where builders or decorators are employed or where trade premises are concerned.

There are three ways in which you can obtain a tip clearance letter:

  1. Register online by answering a few simple questions.
  2. Visit our office at 1st Floor Service Team House, 185-205 Shakespeare Road, London, SE24 0PZ, from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  3. Fax your details to us on 0207 926 0530. You must provide proof of residency in the borough and if requesting by fax you must include a contact telephone number and a list of the household bulky waste items you intend to dispose of.

You must provide proof of your identity and your address when you visit the tip.
