Re-use and recycling schemes

You can recycle unwanted items by using any of our reuse and recycle schemes. We recommend you recyle batteries, furniture, mobile phones  and computers.

Battery recycling

If you do not dispose of batteries safely they can pollute the soil and water, and potentially harm human health. Find out more about the benefits of recycling batteries and where you can recycle them.

Computer reuse and recycling

If you would like to donate IT equipment for reuse, try one of these local organisations. Please be aware there is a charge for some of these services.

Furniture recycling

Alternatively, you can call the Lambeth Service Centre on 020 7926 9000 to arrange a bulky waste collection.

Mobile phone recycling

If you have a mobile handset you no longer need, you can recycle it. Mobile phone recycling

It is estimated there are over 20 million mobile phones in the UK which the owner no longer uses. Phones and their batteries contain elements such as mercury and nickel, which if not disposed of properly can damage the environment.

Phones can be donated to local charity fones for safety, who re-configure the phones for use as 999 only phone alarms for victims of domestic violence.

There are many options available to sell your handset. Either search online or visit your local mobile phone store for more information.

You are advised to clear any personal information from the memory of the mobile phone you wish to donate or sell.
