Replacement bins and black sacks

Depending on your circumstances we can offer replacement bins to you for a charge. The charge covers the cost of the bin and its delivery. Where we have asked you to use black sacks, for example, if you live above a shop, we can provide these to you for a fee of £5 for 20 sacks.

Replacement bins

If you need a new wheeled bin for your property, you can contact us to request a replacement. Depending on the circumstances of your request, we may arrange for an officer to visit your property to assess your need for a bin.

You can contact us by calling the Service Centre on 020 7926 9000, or by emailing streetcarecallcentre@lambeth.gov.uk. If you email us, please include:

• your name 
• your address 
• your daytime telephone number
• the type of bin you would like 
• the reasons you need a new bin.

We will then call or email you back to arrange payment, or to let you know if we have arranged for an officer to visit your property.

If you do need a new bin, there will be a charge which covers the cost of the bin and its delivery. The charges will be: 

• £40 for a 140 litre bin 
• £45 for a 240 litre bin 
• £60 for a 360 litre bin.

Please be aware that 360 litre bins are only for households with six or more residents.

If we have sent an officer to your property, we will call you back once the visit has been made to let you know if we think you need a bin, and if you do, to arrange payment.

You will be able to pay for your new bin over the phone by calling the Service Centre on 020 7926 9000. You can also pay by card, cash and cheque in person at Service Team House, 185-205 Shakespeare Road, SE24 0PZ between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. If you pay by cash, we can only accept the exact amount.

Once you have paid for your bin, we will deliver it to you within 10 working days.

Black sacks

If you have your waste collected in black sacks you can order sacks from us. The cost for a roll of 20 sacks is £5. This includes the cost of the sacks and delivery to your address.

Please be aware that our chosen method for refuse storage is wheeled bins, not sacks. You can only use sacks if you live in a flat above a shop and/or there is no space for bins. Please see Replacement bins - your questions answered for more information on using black sacks.

To order sacks you can call the Service Centre on 020 7926 9000 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, or email streetcarecallcentre@lambeth.gov.uk.

If you email please include:

• your name
• your address
• your daytime telephone number 
• details of how many sacks you would like to order.

We will then call you back to arrange payment.

You can also buy and collect sacks in person at Service Team House at 185-205 Shakespeare Road, SE24 0PZ between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

When you request black sacks you will be asked to pay for them. You can pay by card when you call the Service Centre, or by card, cash or cheque in person at Service Team House. If you pay by cash, we can only accept the exact amount.

You can also send a cheque for the correct amount to Service Team House, 185-205 Shakespeare Road, SE25 0PZ. If you send a cheque please also provide your name, contact details and details of what the cheque is for.
