Special and bulky collections
We can collect special and bulky refuse on request. We offer three collection services:

Collections are carried out between 7am and 7pm.
Standard bulky refuse collection
You can use this service to get rid of old furniture, mattresses, DIY waste, garden waste and other bulky household refuse.
- we can collect up to eight items and six bags, or alternatively 14 bags alone, of building or garden waste each time.
- this service can be used free of charge four times a year.
Please note any bags must be heavy duty bags or double bagged and never more than 14kg.
Large metal goods collection (for recycling)
We can collect your metal goods for recycling.
We are currently providing five rounds a week to ensure that waiting times are kept to a minimum. Our target is to complete all collections within a week.
Examples of metal goods collected are:
- cookers
- washing machines
- tumble dryers
- dishwashers
- metal fires
- central heating radiators
- metal bed frames
- metal furniture, e.g. filing cabinets, chairs, shelves
- microwaves
- lawnmowers
- water boilers
Fridges and freezers collection
We also collect fridges and freezers free of charge.
These must be collected separately so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.
How to prepare
- all items need to be identified separately
- only items that are listed when you call us will be collected
- bags must not weigh over 14kgs
- we will not take clinical waste, hazardous waste, car parts or loose building rubble as part of the bulky collection service.
- items must be stored at the front of the property on the day of collection.
If you have a large amount of waste to clear or you need it cleared in a hurry you will have to pay for the service.
