Taxi cards
The taxicard scheme is for people with severe, permanent mobility problems who cannot use public transport.
The scheme offers subsidised rides at a greatly reduced cost in licensed black taxicabs which are wheelchair accessible.
It offers a 24 hour service, 365 days a year.
How does the scheme work?
You contribute £1.50 for each journey made and the council will pay up to a further £10.80 for each journey made.
If the cost of your journey exceeds £12.30 (i.e. your contribution plus the council's contribution), you have to pay the difference.
You will also have to pay all normal extras for things such as luggage or travel companions.
You must also submit two passport sized photographs with the application form.
You can find further information on the taxicard website.
You can also find more information in the taxicards information leaflet.
