Taxi cards

The Taxicard scheme is for people with severe, permanent mobility problems who cannot use public transport.

The scheme offers subsidised rides at a greatly reduced cost in licensed black Taxicabs which are wheelchair accessible.

It offers a 24 hour service, 365 days a year.

How does the scheme work?

You contribute £1.50 for each journey made and the council will pay up to a further £10.30 for each journey made. The subsidy that the council pays will vary depending the time of the day you take your trip.

If the cost of your journey exceeds £11.80 (or the maximum allowable of your contribution plus the council's contribution at that time of day), you have to pay the difference.

You will also have to pay all normal extras for things such as luggage or travel companions.

You must submit two passport sized photographs with the application form along with a photocopy of a proof of identity document and a proof of residence document. Accepted documents are listed in the application form.

You can find further information on the Taxicard website.
