New website for looked after children
Lambeth Council has launched an innovative website for its looked after children which aims to improve communication between looked after children and the council. Visit the website at www.get2know.org.uk
We have many children in our care at Lambeth, and they deserve the chance to grow up in a loving and secure home. The sort of home we hope you can provide.
Fostering is caring for children and young people in your own home on behalf of the council, whilst their own parents are unable to. We arrange foster care for children in Lambeth who need this service.
Sometimes, for a number of reasons, children are not able to live with their families. In these cases, the children will be cared for by the council. This is called being 'looked after'.
The adoption support service offers services to support adoptive families, their children and birth parents, including advice and information, financial support and referrals where necessary to other professionals.

The Shared Care Scheme aims to provide regular short term breaks for children and young people with disabilities, by linking them with approved carers who look after them for short periods of time. This can be from a few hours to a weekend a month.
