Harassment and Nuisance

What to do if you are being harassed

If you are being harassed, keep a note of the incidents, giving the time, place, what form the harassment took and the name of the harasser if you know it. Note the name of any independent witnesses. If the police were called keep a note of the date and time, and the name or number of any police officer contacted.

Always report cases of harassment to your housing officer whether or not you are the victim. It is recommended that you report all forms of harassment (including domestic violence) to the police.

Community Safety Unit

The police in Lambeth have a community safety unit who specialise in hate crimes. Phone: 020 8721 3644.

What to do if someone is causing a nuisance

If someone is causing a nuisance, keep a note of the time and place and their name and address, (if you know them). If another tenant or someone in their household is causing the nuisance tell your housing officer, who will investigate the complaint. If you have been threatened or frightened by the tenant causing the nuisance, let your housing officer know. We may then arrange for an independent witness to collect evidence and take this to court.
