Bolney Meadows stock transfer
Residents living on the Bolney Meadows estate in Stockwell have opened the door to a new beginning now that management of the estate has transferred from Lambeth Council to Presentation housing association.
What will this mean for residents?
The transfer, which took place on 31 March 2008 brings with it a £24m refurbishment programme that will see homes upgraded to a standard far exceeding the Decent Homes standard.
Planned works include new kitchens and bathrooms, rewiring throughout and individually controlled central heating boilers.
Refurbishment works will provide in all tenants homes:
- new kitchens and bathrooms
- rewiring and redecoration as required
- new individually controlled central heating boilers
- window repairs
- refurbishment of lifts
- new communal decorations
- improved energy efficiency
- new roofs where required
- improved refuse disposal facilities.
In addition to the upgrade and refurbishment of properties on the estate, residents will also benefit from a new community centre and a new local estate office.
Ballot of residents
Residents voted in favour of the proposals in a ballot held in October/ November 2007.
384 secure tenants voted in the ballot which ended at midday on 5 November 2007, with 52.4% per cent voting in favour of the transfer option.
