How long will I stay in here?
In most cases once you are placed to this accommodation will remain there until they are rehoused into permanent accommodation. You may be required to move to alternative temporary accommodation because the property is required to return to its owner at the end of the lease term, due to disrepair or other exceptional circumstances.
What will I be expected to pay?
Households placed to this accommodation will be responsible for paying the temporary accommodation charge and their own bills including gas, electricity, water, council tax. The accommodation charge from April 2005 will be £346.99. Households will be expected to complete a Housing Benefit application for assistance with paying the rent.
Will property be furnished?
The accommodation provided is furnished and tenants are expected to look after the furniture while they are resident in the property, fair ware and tear expected. The furnishing remain the property of the managing agent / council and should not be taken from the property when vacating it.
What about my own furniture?
You can as far as is practicable take your own furniture with you. However, this should be discuss this with the managing agent if it involves displacing any of the existing furniture. Alternatively you can arrange with the council to have your belongings placed into storage. A small charge is made for this service currently £3.00 per week.
Who do I go to if I have a problem?
Any concerns relating to tenancy matters, including disrepair, should be referred to the managing agent in the first instance. Only if they are not responded to satisfactorily should they be reported to the council direct.
