Homelessness Strategy

The Homelessness Act 2002 placed a duty on local authorities to conduct and publish a homelessness review and formulate and publish a homelessness strategy based on the results of that review.

The Act further requires authorities to keep the strategy updated in conjunction with local circumstances and appropriate consultation.

The Lambeth Homelessness Review, published in 2003, provides background information about housing demand, housing supply and services available to and for homelessness people across the borough, whether provided by the council or other agencies.

Following this review we published our Homelessness Strategy for 2003-2004. This strategy focused on a limited number of objectives which we wanted to immediately address. To deliver the strategy we developed an action plan which we update regularly, copies of these documents can be downloaded from this page.

Our homelessness strategy is being updated and our strategy for the next 5 years is set to be published in July 2005. This will set out our comprehensive plans for tackling homelessness in the borough. If you would like to comment on the draft strategy please contact the homelessness strategy coordinator.

Lambeth homelessness forum

The forum meets twice a year and brings together officers from relevant council departments and agencies from across the borough to exchanges information and good practice in working with homeless people.

Anyone can attend the forum and it's free, if you would like an invitation to the next Lambeth homelessness forum please contact the homelessness strategy coordinator.
