Homeless support and advice
Information about homelessness, how you can prevent it, and where you can find support and advice.
Extreme cold weather
Extreme cold weather increases the risk of death or serious illness to people who sleep rough. To prevent this from happening Lambeth operate a severe weather protocol when the temperature drops below zero, offering a humanitarian response by ensuring that everyone has a bed for the night.
If you are concerned about someone or need advice please contact the outreach team, Lambeth SORT on Tel: 0870 383 3300. It will be helpful to provide as much information as you can for example where you saw them, what they were wearing, any specific or noticeable physical features.
Advice for homeless people and those threatened by homelessness is available from our Housing Options and Advice Service. We will do everything we can to prevent you becoming homeless and to help you find housing which meets your needs.
To make a homeless application you should make an appointment to visit our Housing Customer Service Centre in Olive Morris House located at 18 Brixton Hill.
If you are having difficulty managing your current home, or have nowhere to live we have a number of day centres that provide cheap or free food, clothing, blankets and showers, as well as other support and advice services.
Most homelessness is preventable, but only if you act as early as possible before the situation gets worse. We can help you to keep your home or find safe and secure accommodation that is right for you.
If you, or someone you know, are sleeping rough, street outreach teams can provide help.
