Buy a home

Houses for sale

Home ownership can give you more control over your housing, a sense of security and an investment for you and your family, but it can also be expensive.

We work in partnership with housing associations and co-operatives to provide a range of affordable home ownership options to help you buy your home from the Right to Buy to HomeBuy schemes for key workers.

At present, we are not able to offer cash incentive schemes due to a lack of funding. We hope to reintroduce it in the future.

HomeBuy scheme

The homeBuy scheme (formally known as Shared Ownership) is a way to buy what you can afford of a property now with the option of buying a larger share when you are able, and eventually owning it outright.

Right to Buy

The Right to Buy scheme gives eligible council tenants the right to buy their property from the council at a discount.

Social Homebuy scheme

The Social HomeBuy (SHB) scheme provides new opportunities for tenants, who do not have the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire or who cannot afford to buy their property, to buy a share in their rented home.

Who qualifies as a Key worker

Key workers are people who work in certain public sector jobs based in England. If you are a keyworker, you may be eligible for help to buy a home through one of the Homebuy schemes.
