Housing associations and co-operatives

Housing associations and trusts

Housing associations and trusts are independent 'registered social landlords' not private landlords. They provide housing in a very similar way to the council and are non-profit making.

Housing co-operatives

A housing co-operative (co-op) is a group of people who jointly own, manage and control their homes. You can ask to be nominated for co-op housing if you are a council tenant and apply for a transer or if you are on our housing register.
