If you are living with family members who are over 60 years old, then they may be able to move under the country and seaside homes scheme.
Storage and space increasing solutions
If you are unable to move out of your home at present then there are a number of things that you can do in the meantime to make the most of your home.
De-cluttering
Spending a little time de-cluttering your home can make a big difference to your living environment. Tackle one room at a time and remove anything that no longer has a use in the house. You can then take anything that can be re-cycled to a charity shop or try and make some extra cash by trying to sell your unwanted goods at a car boot sale.
Duel purpose furniture
When buying new furniture try to buy items that can also be used for storage. For example buy a bed with drawers or a sofa that can be used as a bed at night.
Making the most of your space
Look at each room in your house and evaluate the use of space. Could the furniture be placed in a different way to increase the living space in the room? Could you replace it for something smaller? For example, you could replace single beds with bunk beds in children’s rooms to increase the floor space.
