Document summary

  1. Lambeth has a statutory duty to reduce fuel poverty in its housing stock.
  2. The client requires a central heating system which has a 15 year minimum life, increased energy efficiency, is as maintenance free as possible and does not exacerbate any underlying problems existing in the building. onsideration should be given to measures to reduce heat loss, particularly and in order of priority, to draught-stripping, installing double-glazing and insulating roofs, walls and floors.
  3. An important consideration will be cost, both the initial capital cost and the ongoing maintenance costs.
Where total output requirement is low (i.e. small flats and highly insulated dwellings) consider alternative heating systems, which might include gas room heaters in conjunction with instantaneous water heaters. Consider active solar domestic hot water heating system in family houses.
