Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was formally adopted by the council on 28 April 2008.
All local planning authorities have a statutory duty to produce an SCI, setting out the consultation procedures to be undertaken in preparing planning documents and in determining planning applications.
Following consultation on an earlier draft, the SCI was submitted to the Secretary of State in November 2007. An examination to assess the 'soundness' of the SCI was carried out by an independent planning Inspector during February and March 2008.
The final Inspector's report, received on 12 March 2008, concluded that the SCI was sound, subject to a number of small changes. The Inspector's report was binding, meaning the Council must adopt the Inspector's recommendations in the final version of the SCI.

New advice on submitting a valid application
For a planning application to be considered valid by the council, it will need to include a range of information known as 'planning application requirements'. Along with the application form, this will usually include documents such as plans, a location map and statements describing aspects of the application, but will vary depending on the details and scale of the proposals.
The local planning application requirements for Lambeth were adopted at the Planning Application Committee meeting of 8 April 2008, and includes separate sections describing the information needed for different types of application.
The requirements are now mandatory and used in the validation of all planning applications.
Rush Common Land
Lambeth Council is committed to preserving and improving Rush Common Land.
In order to support this, the council has produced a Policy and Guidance Note. This was approved by the Corporate Committee in September 2007.
