Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) provide detailed guidance, further explanation and expand on policies in the LDF Core Strategy and the Unitary Development Plan (UDP). They can also be prepared to provide specific guidance for the development of sites or to deal with area wide development issues.
SPDs do not have the same status as the policies in the UDP but have been subject to public consultation and are taken into account as material considerations in dealing with planning applications.
We currently have six adopted SPDs, these can be viewed below.
SPDs for Planning Application Guidance
These SPDs provide further guidance for applicants in the preapration of householder applications and for larger schemes. These can be viewed below.
The S106 SPD has also produced a toolkit.
You can also see documents associated with the SPDs, which include adoption statements, sustainability appraisals and summaries of consultation responses.
Development Briefs and Area Guidance
We prepare area specific SPDs which provide more detailed guidance to give certainty to developers about the our and the community's expectations, and set out any local contraints.
We also prepare development briefs from time to time to provide guidance about the development of specific sites. These briefs set out our ambitions in relation to matters of land use, urban design, amenity, transport and other issues.
