Section 106 planning obligations supplementary planning document (SPD) consultation

Lambeth Council has produced draft guidance on section 106 (S106) planning obligations.

The supplementary planning document (SPD) provides further guidance on the application and interpretation of the recently adopted Lambeth Unitary Development Plan's (UDP) policies. It is one of a series of SPDs which were consulted on during December 2007 and have covered residential extensions and alterations, shopfronts and signage, and the safer environment.

The draft S106 planning obligations SPD contains guidance relating to the mitigation of development in the borough through planning obligations. It will provide applicants with a clearer understanding of the council's requirements in relation to planning obligations, direct on or off site provisions, or financial contributions (including the use of tariff based formulas).

Once adopted, the SPD will become planning guidance to supplement policies in Lambeth's UDP and will be used as a material consideration when determining planning applications, and determining mitigation measures required to be delivered via planning obligations.

Copies of the draft SPD, supporting documents and a questionnaire can be viewed and downloaded below, or at Lambeth's Town Planning Advice Centre, Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton, the Customer Service Centres in Brixton and Streatham and at all public libraries in Lambeth (during normal opening hours).
