An area of working class development that retains characterful industrial and residential sub-areas dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The industrial development is mostly to the West side of the Conservation Area (including Glasshouse Walk, Tinworth Street and Vauxhall Walk). The residential development, in the form of Neo-Georgian London County Council blocks of flats (including Jonathan Street, Tyers Street Vauxhall Street and Worgan Street), is found to the East side
