Options for empty homes
We can provide advice to landlords of empty properties we are aware of on issues such as renting or selling the property and the grants available for bringing empty properties back into use.
Empty property grants
For further details about Empty Property Grants contact the Empty Property Team on 020 7926 4247 or 020 7926 4444.
Renting on the private market
The council can provide advice on letting a house, how to set up a tenancy, how to evict tenants legally and how to be a good landlord. We have even established additional incentives for those who wish to be 'accredited landlords'. There are also independent landlord associations who can offer good advice and support.
For more information on landlord advice, and incentives for good landlords, please contact the Private Sector Housing Unit or speak to:

Selling to a Housing Association or at auction
A Housing Association may want to buy the house, especially if it is a larger property with surrounding land. These may be developed into flats for keyworkers or homeless families.
Auctioning the property is another option. There are usually some costs involved, including publishing photographs of the property in the catalogue and the auctioneers' fees.
