We are committed to help improve living conditions for those in private housing, ensuring that properties are safe and secure. In some instances, this may mean providing incentives for landlords.
The disabled facilities grant is a mandatory grant that can help to provide major work like stairlifts and door widening to help adults or children with disabilities live as independently as possible.
There may be discretionary assistance available to older or disabled private sector residents who are on a low income and have little or no savings.

The Home Improvement Agency exists to help elderly people and disabled people, living in private housing, who are on a low income and need repairs or disabled adaptations in their homes.
A range of grant and loan schemes are available from Lambeth or the Government that cover the cost of heating, heating controls, cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and draught proofing measures.
