Grants and equity release loans for repairs, security and Decent Homes
There may be discretionary assistance available to older or disabled private residents who are on a low income and have little or no savings. The assistance is to help residents remain living as independently as possible in warm, safe and secure homes.
Help ranges from small grants to help with emergency or urgent repairs such as a leaking water tank or improving home security through to grants or equity release from the Home Improvement Trust's Houseproud scheme for major repairs or to bring a home up to the Decent Homes standard.
For older or disabled home owners making enquires about grant assistance theĀ Home Improvement Agency will arrange a home visit to provide advice about the assistance available to help with building costs and check that the enquirer is receiving the services and benefits they need. The Home Improvement Agency can help people make applications for financial assistance and they can also arrange and supervise building work.
