Lambeth residents have an opportunity to get a better deal on gas and electricity bills as part of The Big London Energy Switch.

Energy advice and information

There are a number of organisations who can provide advice, information and support to help you to reduce your fuel bills and carbon emissions and to ensure that you are getting the best deal from your energy company.

Energy grants, loans and schemes

There is some help available to private sector residents (renting or owning) from Lambeth or the Government that cover the cost of heating, heating controls, cavity wall insulation, and loft insulation. To be eligible to apply you must meet the criteria.

Fuel poverty and affordable warmth

A household is said to be in fuel poverty if it needs to spend more than 10 per cent of its income on fuel to maintain a satisfactory heating regime (usually 21 degrees for the main living area, and 18 degrees for other occupied rooms).

Reduce your energy use

There are lots of ways to reduce the energy you use. For example make sure that you switch off appliances, block gaps around doors and windows and buy energy saving light bulbs.

Fuel debt

If you’re struggling to pay your energy bills or get a bill you can’t afford, take steps to sort out the problem as soon as possible. If you don't pay your gas and electricity debts, you risk being cut off.

Extra help with energy bills for vulnerable residents

If you are vulernable or on a low-income, you may be able to get extra help with managing your gas and electricity services or paying the bills.
