Council run sheltered housing

Photo of a worker and resident talking at a sheltered housing schemeAccommodation in sheltered housing is in unfurnished properties specially designed or adapted for elderly people. They are usually built in groups, which we call schemes. They provide a convenient and comfortable home in a setting where tenants can continue to maintain their independence. Tenants can come and go as they please, in an environment that is safe.

Sheltered housing offers tenants the chance to make friends and share a wider social life by using communal lounges and other facilities. As sheltered housing offers more facilities and services than most of our properties, we make a service charge to cover part of the costs.
