Regional Champions resource: Events
Lambeth Conference
On 29 January, Lambeth’s Regional Champions event; ‘Supporting People, the LAA and Joining Up Governance’ met with a positive response from our colleagues in the Supporting People (SP) world with 75% attendance from the London-based SP/ LSP teams and SP representation from Bedfordshire, Coventry and Torbay councils respectively.
Jo Cleary, Director of Adult and Community Services for Lambeth, opened the day.
Guest speakers included Naomi Eisenstadt, Director of the Social Exclusion Task Force for Cabinet Office whose presentation illuminated on ‘The Socially Excluded Adults PSA and LAA’ and David Warwick, Deputy Director of GOL, highlighting the GOL perspective.
The nuts and bolts around embedding SP in the LAA was presented by Ann Skinner and Loraine Rossati (both from Lambeth LSP). Jeremy Twain, CEO for Thames Reach, chaired the event throughout including a panel session with speakers Ian Jackson, Ann Skinner (both Lambeth LSP) and Jenny Edwards from Homeless Link.
Our thanks extend to all guest speakers, the chair and the panel for answering delegates challenging questions with aplomb. Oxford Computer Consultants sponsored the day and provided a useful seminar on a burgeoning area in SP that of managing individual budgets. And finally our thanks to the delegates for participating in this event and keeping speakers on their toes with their questions.
Presentations from the event will be available in February.
