Careers and educational advice
The careers guidance service is for people aged 19 years old or over (not just Lambeth residents).
We offer information and guidance on courses that could help you progress your career, as well as advice on how to get a job.
We are also able to advise on local adult educational courses available in your area, which can help you to learn a new skill or pursue a hobby.
Come and see us at any time to organise a one-to-one appointment or to book a place on one of our regular workshops (both of which you can find out more about below).
One-to-one appointments
A one-to-one appointment is a private and confidential way to look at your current employment situation, your career so far and where you would like it to progress.
These must be booked in advance, either in person or over the phone on 020 7926 5607. You do not have to live in Lambeth in order to access this service.
Once we have discussed what you would like to do in the future we will be able to advise you on how you can find out about jobs in that profession. We can also advise you on any qualifications you may need or any courses that might help your progress.
These appointments last from anywhere between 30 minutes to a whole hour and can include:
Explaining career options and information
- options for the future
- educational courses
- training courses.
Help with job application forms
- how to fill in application forms
- what employers may be looking for
- how to present your experience in the best light.
Job search advice
- the best ways to go about looking for a job
- publications and websites that might have the right job for you
- agencies that specialise in jobs in your chosen field.
Help with CV preparation
- advice on writing your CV
- tips on CV layout
- advice on what you should include in a CV.
Guidance on interview techniques
- interview preparation
- what to expect in an interview
- common interview questions.
Workshops
We also run regular workshops on how to layout a CV and how to prepare for a job interview.
Please call 0207 926 5607 to book a place on a workshop.
However, please note that CV workshops do not include typing up the CV itself.
