The A to Z of Dance 2012

Lambeth Culture and Communities in collaboration with Southwark Culture Service are very excited to again present the A to Z of Dance, a dance-tastic event engaging everyone, regardless of age.

Moving words

Moving Words was a dance performance project led by Lambeth Arts in partnership with Rambert Dance Company and Lambeth College. The project culminated in a youth dance showcase  on 9 July 2010.

Lambeth and Southwark Dance Network

The Network brings together dance artists, organisations, companies and teachers living and working in either borough.

Aim High Dance Academy

Established in Lambeth - Aim High Dance Academy offer a range of dance educational services for 3 years old upwards across London.

Their mission is to provide an environment where learning both dance and life values go hand in hand and where each participant can become confident in his or her efforts and successes. The school ethos is ‘If You Aim High You Will Succeed.’ They encourage all students to set targets, work hard, aim high and take pride in their efforts. They encourage all students to explore all aspects of dancing and the range of different styles we offer, such as Hip-Hop, Street Dance, Freestyle, Contemporary, Ballet, Tap and Modern.

Ballet Soul

The mission of Ballet Soul is to develop a language of dance that is rooted in the discipline of classical ballet, fusing different dance forms and mixing together the rhythms and movements found in African, Eastern and Western cultures. It is this mixing together of cultures and styles that gives the company its unique voice - one that celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of the contemporary cultural scene in London.

Candoco Dance Company

The contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers, Candoco Dance Company tour national and international productions, created by world class choreographers. Candoco offers weekly dance classes for disabled and non-disabled dancers aged 13 to 25.

Independance

Brixton-based dance management agency offering advice, training and support for independent artists, managers and dance practitioners in London.

Independent Dance

An artist-led organisation aiming to support, sustain and stimulate dance artists in their ongoing development as professionals. It offers a year-round programme of classes in release techniques and improvisation, supplemented with Thursday Group discussions, Feedback Forums and intensive workshops and laboratories.

No Limit Dance

No Limit Dance and Arts offer dance, drama and music training to all people of all ages and abilities, right from beginners to professional.

Siobhan Davies Studios

Siobhan Davies Studios host a rich mix of events, classes, workshops and exhibitions designed to stimulate both the mind and the body. Classes for adults and children in a range of body conditioning and dance styles, for beginners as well as experienced participants.

Starlight Dance Studio

The Starlight Dance Studio in Streatham runs social ballroom and Latin classes for beginners, intermediate and advanced, plus Saturday night social dances.

Swingland

Swingland is an established and well-respected swing dancing school based in the London area, they teach the dances of the 1920s to 50s - predominantly Lindy hop (also known as "Jitterbug" or "Jive") and related dances, including East Coast ("6-count") Swing, Charleston and authentic Jazz dance.

They provide weekly dance classes, club nights and dance parties; choreography, private tuition, demos and performances; glamorous Swing Balls and more.

Swing Patrol London

Swing Patrol run weekly swing dance classes in venues across London. Swing dance is a collection of dances from the 1920s, 30s and 40s including Lindy hop and Charleston.

Greenwich Dance Agency (gDA)

gDA produces and promotes a range of activities including classes, workshops and unique events, enabling local people to participate in and experience dance. It also creates opportunities for professional artists to develop their skills and extend their practice.

Laban

Contemporary dance school that provides a range of courses and an exciting, diverse year-round theatre programme from new and established dance artists.

The Place

Centre for contemporary dance, providing training, creation and performance in one building. It provides classes for all levels, and guidance on all aspects of dance careers, research and funding.

Union Dance

Organisation aiming to explore and express identity through dance that reflects the growing cultural fusion of contemporary society.
