Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark film production fund: Southern Exposure
The Southern Exposure fund is now in it's fifth year, and is made possible by support from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham councils, partnered by Film London.
The Southern Exposure Film Fund is part of the London Borough Film Fund Challenge, and encourages filmmakers from Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham to develop their potential.
In 2010-2011 production grants of up to £4,000 per project will be offered for between 4-6 films. There have been some changes to the fund this year, the production timelines are longer, and this year successful applicants will also receive a series of development workshops in November and December.
Projects can be of any length and genre including documentary and animation. Southern Exposure is committed to supporting original and exciting voices whatever the story. Cross borough working and the use of local crew and facilities is encouraged, but to be eligible to apply for the fund you must live in one of the three Southern Exposure Boroughs.
A selection of films from the Southern Exposure fund are entered into the Best of Boroughs (BoBs) competition and go up against other London Borough film funds, to compete for two prizes- the Audience Award and the Jury Prize- worth £2000 each.
Over the past three years Southern Exposure films have scooped up prizes in every BoBs competition. In 2010, The Assessments by writer and director Mark Gutteridge - from the London Borough of Southwark - won the overall Jury Prize.
The Audience Award is voted on by members of the public via the BoBs pages of the Film London website.
Applications for Southern Exposure 2010-2011 are now closed.
