Stellar Network present a series of seminars in business skills for film professionals

Stellar Network is partnering with Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media, to run a series of heavily subsidised training seminars in business skills, for people working in the film industry.

This series of four interactive day long seminars will run on Saturdays over the autumn and winter 2008 and will explore key Legal, Financial, Marketing and Strategic issues in relation to the film sector.

The aim of these seminars is to inspire thought by introducing models and concepts, as well as giving practical advice and information that is useful to the creative business and career. The seminars are particularly designed for film industry freelancers and small businesses and they are open to everyone from writers and producer-directors, to animators, to small production companies or post-production houses.

Areas of interest and focus will include: IP rights and how to protect your creative ideas and your business, Financial forecasting and tax assessments, Valuation of new projects and enterprises, Effective marketing through understanding your product and your audience, Understanding the strategic environment.

Creative drawing workshops

These four hour long workshops will stretch over a four week period and are aimed at beginners.

The workshops are lead by artist and printmaker Jonathan Comerford. His approach is contemporary and innovative yet based on traditional techniques and skill.

The objective of the workshop is to give participants a solid foundation of knowledge and skill as well as guidance to develop their own style or 'handwriting'.

Saturday Arts Club

EFTA Young Film Maker's Summer Course

Ealing Film and Television Associates (EFTA) run a non-profit making four day course for young film maker's. Now in its 11th year, EFTA have welcomed over 1,000 teenagers onto their courses.

Students create their own script, cast it, and shoot the scenes over four days. All students receive a free DVD copy of the completed film and a course certificate.

Zoom-In Photography

Zoom-In is a popular, not-for-profit school for photography, enabling both individuals and community groups from the Greater London area to explore and engage with all aspects and all levels of photography. They offer short courses in photography, which can be taken as either evening or weekend workshops.

Their Photography Courses range from Beginners Photography through Intermediate Photographic Techniques to advanced Photography Skills. Aimed at both film and digital photographers, they cover everything from camera basics to new digital photographic techniques or the subtle arts of darkroom printing.
