Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark film production fund

As part of Film London's London Borough Film Fund Challenge, Lambeth Arts have join forces with the Lewisham Film Initiative and the Southwark Film Office to create the Southern Exposure production fund. The aim of the fund is to help create and promote our residents' work, to encourage cross-borough collaboration and to provide sustainable support for filmmakers from development to distribution.

This year a short film funded by Southern Exposure, won the Film London/ITV London viewers choice award in the Best of Borough Film Awards (The BoBs) 2008.

The film, The Beachcombers, was one of six short films shortlisted from other borough film funds.

The heartwarming film tells the story of two young Londoners who meet while searching along the Thames for treasures. The film is set to evocative music and shows iconic London sights such as Tower Bridge, River Thames and the City of London.

Michael Berliner, producer of The Beachcombers, said: "Making our film was an amazing experience I will never forget, and to receive this award is just the best icing on the cake imaginable. The money gave us the means, and this award feeds our motivation, to keep making movies. I'd like to thank Southern Exposure for everything they are doing to sow a new generation of aspiring London filmmakers, we really need this kind of kickstart funding - so roll on the next round."
