Young People, Sport and Culture Seminar
A good practice-sharing seminar exploring the theme of the Youth Offer, sporting and cultural opportunities for young people. SOWF present; Street Genius Take Over
Friday 26 - Sunday 28 September
As part of Open Weekend SOWF present the Street Genius Take Over, a weekend of events created by young people for young people. Street Geniuses are local 16 to 19 year olds who have worked with galleries, dance companies, theatres and other arts organisations to create events for young people in Lambeth and Southwark.

Street Genius Take Over is presented by SOWF - a project promoted by the South Bank and Bankside Cultural Quarter which aims to put young people at the heart of the arts as visitors, creators and advocates. The Cultural Quarter is collaboration of 24 arts organisations all situated near the river in Lambeth and Southwark, including the Southbank Centre, Imperial War Museum, Tate Modern and the Design Museum.

Dance Summer Schools

South London Theatre
South London Theatre has expanded its Youth Theatre to enable more children to benefit from this unique opportunity.
Over 40 new places have been created, making the total number of places available 120. The classes are for age groups 7 to 9, 10 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 18 and 19 to 21 year olds.
Each class is designed to teach confidence and self-expression beginning with movement and story telling, building up to script reading, improvisation and the production of scripted works and devised pieces, leading to a showcase performance in a real theatre space.

Lambeth Children's Fund (LCF)
The Lambeth Children's Fund website includes an exciting user friendly 'kidz' side which includes games, project contact details, what's on, places to go and much more. There is also an even friendlier user side for adults outlining all of the LCF services.
Bigfoot Theatre Company

Brixton Shed
Are you aged 7 to 16 and interested in music, dance and drama?
Do you want to meet new friends and try things that you have never tried before? If so Brixton Shed wants to hear from you.
Brixton Shed are an Inclusive Theatre Company which is an outreach of Chicken Shed Theatre Company. Their doors are open to anyone and everyone, the charge for a term is £10 for 10 sessions.
The project is based at Brixton Recreational Centre on a Monday evening. Childrens Theatre ages 7 to 11 is from 5.30 to 6.45pm and Youth Theatre ages 11 to 16 is from 7.30pm to 8.45pm.

Abandon Theatre offers young people an opportunity to join the Devas Drama Club.

Learn through drama and play
A drama club where young people are involved in theatre games, drama skills development, movement, voice, forum theatre and improvisation all focused on your current ability, with a view to putting on a performance after 12 weeks to friends and family at the Devas Club
Each Saturday is designed so that you can "drop in and out". So if you attend at least 80% of the classes over the 12 weeks you are entitled to be involved in the final production.
The drama club is run by two professional actors with an extensive knowledge of theatre and performance, and theatre for young people. Abandon Theatre is a professional theatre company set up by actors with extensive theatre and performance experience.
This course is free to all young people.

Lambeth Orchestra Open rehearsals scheme
This new scheme offers the opportunity for school children to attend an informal rehearsal of the Lambeth Orchestra on a Saturday morning between 10am-1pm, at St Luke's Church, West Norwood, London SE27.
There is no age limit, but children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Admission is free, and children can arrive and leave at any point during the rehearsal.

Oval House Youth Arts
Classes include Street Dance, Drama and Vocals and are aimed at young people aged between 11-19 years old. Participants can also expect to learn a number of skills during the term which culminates in a short performance to family and friends in Oval House’s main theatre.

Ritzy Cinema kids club
New to the Ritzy, we run fortnightly kids workshops after the Saturday Morning screenings. Workshops will take place for approx one hour at the Ritzy after the film. Kids must see the film first to take part in the workshops. Kids should wear old clothes.
Places are limited so book in advance at the Box office. Tickets for the film and the workshop are £3.50 (£1.00 film/£2.50 workshop). Children must be aged 5+. Children are welcome to bring snacks and drinks.
