Book groups for adults
Come along to meet fellow book lovers, discuss a good book and join the fun.
Each month we provide you with a copy of one of the books from our list, at the next meeting you can come along and share your views – do you love it, hate it, or would you recommend it to a friend?
We run twelve book groups and each has a unique identity. All the book groups are free to join, and if you are a member you will be able to borrow the book being read by your group.
The groups are run by local librarians who will be happy to give you further information.
Book group books
We buy fifteen copies of each title chosen. The titles range from contemporary bestsellers, to prize winners to the latest literary sensation. Since the groups began they have read over 150 titles.
If you wish to set up your own book group or are in an already established group, we will be only too happy to provide you with books from the list.

Guest authors
Throughout the year we have guest authors visiting the groups.
In the past we have had Peter Ackroyd, Monica Ali, Armando Iannucci, Kate Mosse, Ben Okri, Doris Lessing, Jo Brand, Lionel Shriver, and many more.
Our book groups have also appeared on BBC’s Page Turners with Jeremy Vine and the Richard and Judy show.
Help with your book group
In addition to running book groups in Libraries we also offer a loan service for book groups based at home or in friends houses. Simply register your book group with your local library and you have access to the free loan of up to 15 copies of any of the books on the Lambeth book groups reading list.
