Lambeth's most borrowed titles January 2010
Adult Fiction
The Lost Symbol – Dan Brown
- The Girl who kicked the Hornet's Nest – Stieg Larsson
- The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters
- Juliet Naked - Nick Hornby
- The Road - Cormac McCarthy
Dan Brown, comfortably the world's most successful author, seems utterly review-proof and there's no arguing with the fact that he has his finger on the pulse of the modern thriller reader. Like its predecessors, The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, The Lost Symbol is already a publishing phenomenon.
Adult Non-Fiction
Life in the United Kingdom – Home Office
- Bad Science – Ben Goldacre
- Ugly - Constance Briscoe
- Wedlock - Wendy Moore
- Morocco - Lonely Planet
Life in the UK again tops the book issues for non-fiction. Wedlock, Wendy Moore's how Georgian Britain's worst husband met his match, is another of the Channel 4 Book Club books to enter the top issuing book charts for Lambeth.
Children and Young People's
Twilight – Stephenie Meyer
- Oxford Reading Tree – Roderick Hunt
- Aliens love Underpants - Claire Freedman
- Dragon Ball - Akira Toriyama
- New Moon – Stephenie Meyer
Can nothing stop Stephenie Meyer! In September Twilight topped the charts, then New Moon – with the film breaking records (and hearts) in the cinema. Twilight now goes back to the top showing that 2009's dominance by vampire romance looks set to continue.
DVD
Star Trek: Director: J J Abrams. Actors: Chris Pine, Bruce
Greenwood, Ben Cross, Winona Ryder
J.J. Abrams' 2009 feature film was billed as "not your father's Star Trek" but your parents will probably love it anyway. And what's not to love? It has enough action, emotional impact, humor, and sheer fun for any moviegoer, and Trekkers will enjoy plenty of insider references and a cast that seems ideally suited to portray the characters we know they'll become later.
