Gifted and talented scheme

The aim of Lambeth's gifted and talented scheme is to support aspiring young sports people to perform at a high standard. In order to get to this level it takes time effort and resources. The scheme recognises this and offers small financial awards to help those who are involved in sport at this level.

Eligibility criteria

• All applicants must be Lambeth residents.
• Only one grant can be awarded each year
• Grants can only be given for the cost of training, coaching, equipment and competing. Grants will not be awarded towards travel costs e.g. petrol
• All applicants must be aged between 11- 18 years However in special circumstances applications from those over 18 may be considered.

Grant information

Depending on the demand for grants, awards will be between £100 and £150. Successful individuals will also be given a free membership to the council’s leisure centres for one year to assist with their training.

What is expected from you?

• Keep Lambeth updated on your progress and achievement in your sport via Sportsaid
• Send us a photograph
• To be a sporting ambassador for Lambeth as part of its sports and 2012 work.

How do I apply?

• Before applying, please read the guidance notes.
• The application form and ethnicity form must be completed and returned to:

• All applications must be counter signed by a qualified coach confirming the level the athlete has reached.
• All applications must be made on an official application form.
• The closing date for the first round of funding is Friday 20th November 2009.

How are grants assessed?

An independent panel made up of community sports team members and partners from the Lambeth CSPAN will assess applications.

Notification

You will be sent a receipt of your application either via email or post. You will be notified in writing about the success of your application in mid December 2009.

Lambeth's gifted and talented scheme has limited resources. We can therefore not guarantee that your application will receive support.
