Activate Festival of Sport
Activate Sports Festival has kicked off Lambeth Council's countdown to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The festival gave visitors the opportunity to 'have a go' at Olympic and Paralympic sports such as tennis, rowing, cycling, badminton (see full list of sports below).
Local sports clubs were on-hand on the day offering training and support as well as advice for those who wanted to join a club to continue with their chosen activity.
Activities on the day were divided into:
- competition - organised sports competitions in a variety of sports
- demonstrations - exhibitions put on by various organisations and individuals (some of these were demonstration only and not open to public participation)
- have-a-go - these activities were open to all to try out.
The sports festival activities are suitable for all ages from five and above.
