Penalty Charge Notice charges
Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) are issued on a two tier differential system of parking charge penalties which relates to the seriousness of the contravention. The higher charge applies to contraventions associated with prohibited and dangerous parking. The lower charge applies to all other contraventions.
For example, a PCN is issued at the higher rate to a motorist who double parks or who parks on yellow lines when it is not allowed. A PCN is issued at the lower rate to a motorist who overstays in a pay and display bay.
PCNs are issued on a system of band A and band B roads. B and A roads are those roads north of the South Circular (A205) and all roads in Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs). Band B roads are those south of the South Circular that are not in CPZs.
Please note: any tickets issued before 12.01am, 1 July 2007 follow the charging structure at the previous rates.
